outdoor gear list

AT THE GARDEN, CHILDREN HAVE ACCESS TO THE OUTDOORS EVERYDAY AND THEY WILL GET WET, MUDDY, DIRTY AND MESSY! HERE ARE SOME HELPFUL TIPS ON HOW TO DRESS YOUR CHILD FOR COMFORTABLE EVERYDAY PLAY AT SCHOOL.

outdoor play needs:

cold weather gear for outdoor play

  • warm winter coat (down waterproof coats are great and easy to move around in)
  • warm wool hat that fits over the ears (ear flaps are great!)
  • warm wool mittens (classic style w/o individual fingers)
  • insulated pull-on snow boots and/OR warm wool socks + pull-on rain boots
  • clothes for layering (wool long underwear tops and bottoms are great)
  • thin, roomy rain suit that fits over winter coat and/or insulated rain suit and/or rain paints + rain coat

warm weather gear for outdoor play

  • rash guard and swim suit bottoms (summer)
  • comfortable, breathable play clothes that can get dirty
  • slip-on close-toed waterproof shoes (i.e. keens, crocs)
  • fitted hat (if desired)
  • thin rain suit and/or rain pants and rain coat
  • pull-on rain boots
  • sunscreen (applied before drop-off)
  • bugspray (applied before drop-off)

to leave at school

  • 1-2 extra sets of seasonally appropriate clothes, including socks + underwear
    (if your child is learning to use the toilet independently, 2-3 extra sets of bottoms is also appropriate)
  • pull-on rain boots
    (please no ties!)
  • extra set of gloves (winter)
  • wet bag/ ziploc bag for wet/soiled clothes to go home in
  • rain suit
